THE ONFERNO CAVES

Are a karstic complex considered among the most important in Italy and among the caves of chalk, and is located around 8 km from the hotel.

The visit to the caves provides the drop-down in the woods and subsequently in the underground canyonwhere you can admire the gypsum crystals, the walls polished smooth by the river, and finally the Hall of the Mamelon so named for the stalactites of plaster that fall from the ceiling.

In the caves live more than 6 thousand of bats of 6 different species.

The visits are done in conjunction with the qualified staff and last approximately 90 minutes. Recommended: hiking shoes, a lightweight waterproof jacket (the temperature inside the cave is around 12 degrees) and comfortable clothing.
