Dante Alighieri in his journey, wrote about hell, inspired by them: the Onferno Caves, recently recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are among the largest and most important in Italy among those of karst origin, with a length of about 400 metres on a 64-meter drop. They are located within a Nature Reserve that also provides trails and many paths for horseback riding, biking and walking.
